Offshore containers are containers that are used on the high seas and have to meet offshore requirements for high waves, as well as for salty seawater. This means that the containers must withstand severe weather conditions. For this reason, offshore containers are very sturdy and made of thick and strong steel, and are wind and waterproof. Their lashing eyes are particularly robust, since the containers usually have to be loaded with the crane, and thus bare the entire net weight. There are also custom built options with electrical installation installed, such as a control center on drilling rigs, or to act as a living container. The containers are certified with DNV GL amongst other oil and gas industry and offshore classification. DNV 2.7-1, ISO 10855, EN12079, IMO MSC.
